Running a specialist mortgage brokerage while managing family commitments is not a simple balancing act – and Amar Dhanota, co-founder of London FS, is refreshingly honest about that. Speaking to Mortgage Introducer, she describes her approach to starting the day as the result of a lot of trial and error, rather than a polished formula she has always had.

Amar is a self-described early riser, with her most productive window falling between 6.30am and 11am. She begins each morning with a half-hour walk to clear her head before sitting down to work, and checks her diary as soon as she wakes to understand the shape of the day ahead. Breaking the day into defined slots – including deliberate rest breaks – helps her remain focused rather than reactive. She has also made a firm decision not to check emails after 9pm, a change that has made a measurable difference to how she starts the following morning. That discipline is part of what clients value in the London FS specialist mortgage broker team.

The mindset she describes is one of intentional reset. Carrying unresolved stress from one day into the next, she explains, makes it far harder to approach new challenges with fresh thinking. A quote she encountered some time ago has stayed with her: do not let yesterday take up too much of today. For Amar, the discipline of protecting her mornings is not about rigid self-improvement regimes – it is simply about showing up in the best possible state for her clients.
